Metal roofing & sheet metal

Metal roofing & sheet metal
services for Baton Rouge.

Louisiana roofs take a beating. High humidity, tropical storms, 90°F summers, and the occasional hurricane put conventional shingles through a 12–15 year cycle of swelling, cracking, and granule loss before they need to be torn off again.

A properly installed metal roof handles all of it differently. It sheds wind-driven rain, resists uplift to 140 mph when seamed correctly, reflects radiant heat instead of absorbing it, and carries a 40–70 year service life that makes the higher upfront cost look very different once you stop replacing the roof twice.

At Blanco’s, we’ve installed standing seam and metal panel systems across South Louisiana for over 20 years. We know what holds up here and what doesn’t — and we don’t sell systems we wouldn’t put on our own shops.

Standing seam systems

systems we install.

We fabricate every panel and flashing for standing seam installations on a 10-foot roll former in our own shop — so runs under 80 feet ship with no lap joints, and the trim matches the panel profile, gauge, and finish to the inch.

Metal roof repair and storm damage response

Repair

Metal roof repair &
storm damage response.

Storm season hits South Louisiana hard, and metal roofs occasionally take damage from falling limbs, hail, or uplift at flashings and penetrations. Blanco’s provides fast response with the crews and equipment to repair or temporarily dry-in the affected area until a permanent fix is scheduled.

We document damage thoroughly for insurance purposes, work directly with adjusters when invited, and recommend repair over replacement whenever the existing system has substantial service life left.

Maintenance

Standing seam maintenance
& re-coating.

A properly installed standing seam metal roof in our climate will outlast two to three shingle roof replacements — but only if it’s maintained. Blanco’s annual and semi-annual maintenance includes fastener checks at exposed-fastener trims, seam inspections, and clearing debris from valleys and gutters.

When the original Kynar finish starts to chalk or fade after 25–30 years, we can field-apply an elastomeric coating to extend service life by another 10–15 years at a fraction of replacement cost.

FAQ

Metal
roofing questions.

What homeowners and property managers ask before committing to a metal roofing project — answered straight.

Ask your own question
01 How long does a standing seam metal roof actually last in Louisiana?

A properly installed standing seam metal roof in Louisiana will last 40–70 years depending on panel gauge, finish (Galvalume vs. painted), and proximity to salt air. That is two to three times the service life of a quality architectural shingle roof in the same climate. Blanco’s installs 24ga and 26ga panels with Kynar 500 finishes as standard, which carry 30+ year finish warranties.

02 Are metal roofs louder than shingle roofs when it rains?

No — that is a myth from old barn metal installed over open framing. A standing seam metal roof on a residential or commercial structure is installed over solid decking with underlayment, which absorbs sound. Interior rain noise on a modern standing seam roof is typically lower than on an architectural shingle roof.

03 Is a metal roof hail-rated?

Yes. Standing seam metal roofs carry UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact ratings — the highest classification available, the same as Class 4 impact-resistant shingles. Cosmetic denting can occur in extreme hail events, but functional damage is rare. Most homeowner insurance policies in Louisiana offer premium discounts for Class 4 metal roofing.

04 Does a metal roof make my house hotter?

No, the opposite. Standing seam metal roofs in light colors reflect solar radiant heat and qualify for ENERGY STAR certification. Most Blanco’s metal roof installations show a measurable reduction in attic temperature and cooling load compared to dark asphalt shingle roofs, typically 10–25% in summer cooling costs.

05 Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost?

A standing seam metal roof in our market typically runs 2× to 2.5× the installed cost of a quality architectural shingle roof. Because metal lasts 2× to 3× as long, the lifecycle cost is comparable or lower. When you factor in the energy savings, the reduced insurance premium on Class 4 metal, and the elimination of one or two re-roofs over a 50-year period, metal is almost always the better financial decision.
